Objective

The objective of this study was to understand the current state of organizations’ cloud infrastructure and evaluate future migration needs and opportunities. The study examined how enterprises approach cloud adoption, the benefits they expect and the challenges they face or anticipate during migration.

The Challenge

Cloud migration is no longer a question of “if,” but “how well.” Organizations at different stages of migration face varying operational pressures, internal alignment issues and performance expectations.
Key challenges included:

  1. Migration Complexity Enterprises struggled with operational disruptions, integration hurdles and uncertainty around execution timelines.
  2. Benefit Realisation Gaps While cloud adoption promised efficiency and scalability, organizations were unsure whether expected outcomes were being fully achieved.
  3. Forward Planning Uncertainty Firms planning migration needed clearer insight into anticipated risks, cost implications and long-term infrastructure strategy.

Our Approach

We treated cloud migration as a measurable decision and execution pattern across enterprise IT leaders.
Here’s how we did it:

  1. Global Survey Designed and rolled out a structured online survey across 350 senior IT respondents globally.
  2. Enterprise Coverage Covered organizations with 1,000+ employees in the US and 500+ employees in Canada and EMEA.
  3. Role Targeting Targeted managers and above in infrastructure, operations and cloud decision-making roles.
  4. Theme Structuring Structured the questionnaire across themes including current cloud state, expected benefits and migration challenges.
  5. Dataset Delivery Delivered the final dataset through Excel and SPSS outputs with demographic slicing and theme-based summaries.

The Outcome

The study provided a clear view of how enterprises currently manage cloud infrastructure, what challenges they face during migration and what outcomes they expect post-adoption. It helped the client identify operational pain points, benefit realisation gaps and forward-looking investment priorities, enabling more targeted engagement with IT decision-makers.

Client Remarks
